How to Create an Eye-Catching Pet Sitter Profile
If you’re just starting off at a pet sitting agency (or are looking into it), congratulations! Pet sitting is a highly rewarding and flexible career that helps you stay active while meeting interesting people and pets.
Now comes the tricky part: attracting clients! To do that, you need to craft a pet sitting profile that helps clients get to you and shows off your expertise with pets. If you’re not sure where to start, here’s how our expert pet sitters create theirs:
Choose a headline that helps you stand out!
Step 1: Create an attention-grabbing headline
The first thing to keep in mind when creating your pet sitter profile is that the people who will be reading it are busy. Keep your information short, sweet, and to the point. They may only spend 30 seconds looking at it, so lead with a headline that makes them want to keep reading.
The headline of your profile should get to the heart of what you bring to the table and highlight your specialties, which is what sets you apart as a caregiver. When possible, you should also try to include phrases or keywords that you think future clients will be looking for. When used sparingly, emojis can be impactful.
Good examples of pet sitter profile headlines are:
5-star pet sitter for anxious dogs and cats
Pet sitter and future veterinarian!
Experienced dog and puppy nanny
Step 2: Show off your personality
Now, just because you should keep things short, that doesn’t mean you need to cut out all extraneous or fun bits of your profile. Your clients need to be able to trust you with taking care of members of their family; in addition to screening for experience, pet parents are looking for personality compatibility. They want to know who you are!
You can show this off in the language you choose (though be sure to remain professional), but pictures are another great way. Choose images that show how much fun your charges get to have, and what a “day in the life” with you as a pet sitter looks like. Make sure to select a wide range of image types that show off different clients, settings, and, whenever possible, hints at your experience as well.

Step 3: Show off your pet sitting experience
This is the most important part of your profile. You need to let them know the specifics of your pet-sitting expertise and any qualifications or certifications you have. Make sure to discuss aspects like:
Any certifications or licences that you hold
Your care style
Experience giving medications (and what types)
Experience with specific medical conditions (blindness, diabetes, limited mobility, etc.)
Experience with specific behavioural traits (anxiety, leash reactivity, alert barking, etc.)
Client management experience, such as being a household manager, account manager, sales lead, etc.
Even if you’re new to pet sitting, you may have more experience than you realize. There are a lot of jobs in the public service industry and volunteer opportunities that require applicable skills. Check out our article on how to write a pet sitting resume for more guidance.
If you don’t feel that you have enough experience to set you apart from other pet sitters, go get some! Look in your area for veterinarians or shelters, many of whom often need volunteers. You can also get certified online with organizations like Fear Free or the Red Cross.
Step 4: Set expectations and boundaries
This may seem counterintuitive, but it’s in everyone’s best interest if you set clear boundaries and expectations up front. We recommend that your profile also clearly outline aspects like your cancellation and refund policies. For our sitter’s safety, we also include a “Right to Refuse Service” policy on all profiles.
It’s commonplace in the industry to have cancellation policies that require a full week’s notice to receive a refund, and that period may go up to two weeks during holidays. You should also outline any time periods that you are unable to work. This is specific to G&G, but most platforms have a much more lenient policy.
Step 5: Work with the best pet sitting agency
Having a great pet sitting profile is a good start, but if the right clients aren’t finding it — it won’t do you much good. That’s why we recommend working with a high-quality and local pet sitting agency that knows your neighbourhood as well as you do. They’ll handle the marketing, insurance, and other red tape so you can focus on the pets.
An agency can also do the important work of vetting clients before they can contact you.
